Hij blijft lid van het dagelijkse bestuur en wordt benoemd als Ere-Voorzitter. Guy Gruwez is reeds 50 jaar bestuurslid, waarvan 40 jaar als voorzitter, en heeft de dagelijkse Last Post plechtigheid gemaakt tot wat zij vandaag is. De explosieve groei van het aantal bezoekers over de laatste jaren zijn het resultaat van zijn onverdroten inzet en degelijk bestuur.<\/p><p>Deze beslissing past volledig binnen de verjonging van het bestuur van de LPA. De nieuwe voorzitter en bestuur zullen verder het doel van de vereniging blijven nastreven, namelijk de herdenking van degenen die hun leven gegeven hebben voor onze vrijheid en het herstel van de vrede. Gedurende zijn 40 jaar van voorzitterschap, heeft Guy Gruwez heel wat binnen- en buitenlandse personaliteiten verwelkomd onder de Ieperse Menenpoort, met als hoogtepunt het bezoek van Paus Johannes-Paulus II in 1985.
