Visit of the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia

The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, attended the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate on 4 June 2013 at 8.00 PM. Her Excellency was accompanied by His Excellency Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, the Australian Ambassador to Belgium, Mr Duncan Lewis AO, and a delegation of 25 Australian business leaders from the European Australian Business Council.

Mr. Benoit Mottrie, Chairman of the Last Post Association commented: “The presence of the Governor-General means for the Last Post Association a special token of appreciation for the effort of our many volunteers. Thanks to them we are able to maintain the daily commemoration ceremony and we can continue to remember the sacrifice of so many soldiers.”

All the members of the Last Post Association were invited to this ceremony. A special reserved area was provided for our members.
